Problem Statement - To design Smart Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) which trips when Earth leakage is detected but it will turn on automatically after 120 second if leakage is removed or if it is temporary.
Challenge description with context - Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) available in the current market is not smart. If it trips after detection of earth leakage, it will turn OFF but will not turn it ON again if earth leakage is removed. Person has to manually turn it ON and while making it ON, person does not know whether earth leakage is removed or not. Smart ELCB will remove this problem. It will turn OFF automatically when there is earth leakage and will turn ON again automatically after 120 seconds of earth leakage removal.
Problem – In existing Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker, it trips automatically when earth leakage is detected but problem is that it cannot switch on automatically when leakage is removed. Microcontroller based smart ELCB will solve this problem.
Users – Society
Expected Outcomes - It will increase selling of ELCB and make human life more easy and safe against electrical hazards. It will also increase hardware and programming knowledge of the students who are participating in this event. Industry and students both have advantage. It is very much useful to the old age and physically handicap people because they will not be able to switch ON ELCB. Smart ELCB will provide safety against electric shock hazards.
