Module : Understanding Financial Statements
1.Analysing Combined Balance Sheets and Income Statements
This chapter will introduce you to the various means by which combined balance sheets and income statements are analysed at the financial institution. The chapter will familiarize you with how to use Rate of Return, Pro Forma balance Sheets, and Financial Projections, among other strategies, when analysing balance sheets and income statements.
2.Interpreting Financial Reports and Accounts
This chapter will introduce you to financial statements to better understanding of the process of auditing and methods of accounting. Additionally, the chapter will teach you about the various types of accepted accounting methods used by companies, the methods of inventory valuation, and the decision to lease or own so you is prepared to determine accounting decisions.
3.Analysing Performance and Condition
This chapter will introduce you to the process by which performance and condition are analysed. The chapter will familiarize you with spreading financial statements and the proper analysis of balance sheets and income statements.
4.Financing and Company Lifecycle
The lifecycle of a company is divided into different stages: start-up, growth, maturity, and decline. In each of these stages, the company will have different financing requirements. Here, we look at the funding needs of each stage.
5.Accretion Dilution Analysis
In this chapter, you will learn how investment banking and corporate finance professionals model mergers and acquisitions. We’ll start with a review of the current M&A landscape, and key M&A concepts like accretion / dilution, pricing structures (exchange ratios/collars/ walk-away rights), acquisition accounting, and the step-by-step allocation of purchase price.
